Saturday, October 09, 2010
Many questions have been asked about how lenders are handling their foreclosures. The rubber stamp seems to getting a big workout and the government wants lenders information they contain verified.
N.C. Attorney General Roy Cooper is asking 14 lenders to suspend foreclosures in the state until they can show that their process complies with the law. At issue are instances in which lenders have said they have signed affidavits without verifying the information they contain. In other cases, questions have been raised about the notarization of the documents.
