Asheville Single Women a Rising Force in Housing Market

Single Parent or unmarried women continue makes up a growing segment of home buyers and are buying Asheville Homes in record numbers: Last year, woman composed 20% of all Asheville buyers last year and standing with the national average.

The Joint Center for Housing Studies says the three main reasons women are purchasing homes are:

▪ They have a strong desire to nest (the top-ranked reason).
▪ They want to relocate closer to a job or family.
▪ They need more space.

Home builders are reflecting more female tastes in the design of homes. Builders are adding security features, gourmet kitchens, and maintenance-free yards to appeal more to the single woman buyer.

Housing experts say that single women are purchasing homes at various stages in their lives including new college grads and plan to one day get married while others may be divorced or just want to set up roots in their own place.

Because of the strong buying power of the single woman townhouse and condos are increasing in sales along with homes closure to downtown Asheville.

Asheville Real Estate continues to increase in sales and price are stabilizing as experts say this will be the last year to take advantage of the low price as 2012 prices will start increasing.
